ENGLAND/ OFFICIAL, West Bromwich: Mantom joins Walsall

Youngster seals permanent move and Gayle rejoins Shrews on loan

SAM Mantom has today completed a permanent move to Walsall for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old midfielder has penned an 18-month contract after last week finishing his second loan spell at the Bescot Stadium, playing 11 games for the 14th-placed League One outfit.

He has found first-team chances hard to come by at The Hawthorns and last season joined up with the Saddlers for the first time, scoring three goals in 13 appearances to help them steer clear of relegation.

Albion Sporting & Technical Director (designate) Richard Garlick said: “Sam has been a great servant to the club since joining us as a youngster.

“He has progressed well during his time with us and is thoroughly professional in everything he does.

“Unfortunately, due to the club’s success in recent years, it has been difficult for him to break into the first team.

“This is a good move for him and we wish Sam all the best in his future career.”
